Hidden Treasures
The main stories we have about the life of Jesus are contained in the first four books of the New Testament, often referred to as the Four Gospels (Gospel comes from the Greek word for good news). The first three, Matthew, Mark, and Luke are often called the Synoptic Gospels because they are very similar and contain
much of the same material. The Greek word “synoptic” means “seeing together.” Some material is contained in all three and some in two of the three, but each of these has material unique to that book, which tells us it’s something that author wanted to emphasize about Jesus and his teaching.
A parable is a short, simple story that teaches a moral, ethical, or spiritual lesson; Jesus loved to use parables in his teaching, and there are a set of these parables that occur only in the Gospel of Matthew. These will be our focus in a new sermon series starting this week called Hidden Treasures. Join us in person at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday or later in the on YouTube.

We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's Table as God has welcomed us.
